Brandon founded 5thPeak in 2021 to consolidate and extend a decade of principal investing across energy, real estate, and other opportunities where his relationships and underwriting carried weight. He looks for opportunities others overlook and shapes how the firm enters them — typically through partnerships with operators who know the rock or the asset class better than anyone else at the table.

Earlier, he founded Source Minerals in 2013 and co-founded Source Energy Partners with Oaktree Capital Management, building the firm’s Permian mineral position prior to its substantial divestiture to Desert Peak Minerals in 2021. He began his career as an oil and gas attorney at Locke Liddell & Sapp and the Texas General Land Office, and served as Manager of Land & Legal at Dorchester Minerals.

Carolyn leads real estate at 5thPeak. She brings two decades of institutional real estate experience — most of it as a founding partner of Sheppard Mullin’s Dallas office, where she handled acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and asset management for institutional clients.

At 5thPeak, her work is to take an idea and move it. She turns a thesis into terms, terms into a transaction, and a transaction into an asset that performs. The firm’s real estate platform is built around her capacity to make things happen.

Casie is President of 5thPeak, where she leads the firm’s technical underwriting process and oversees the management and performance reporting of acquired assets. She brings 17 years of upstream experience as a petroleum engineer, spanning public and private operators, private equity-backed teams, and family office capital.

She started her career at ExxonMobil and has since worked as a reservoir engineer across both large organizations and lean investment teams, including two Permian operators through successful exits. She has underwritten hundreds of non-op and minerals & royalties deals in both marketed and non-marketed settings across most major U.S. basins, with a focus on the Permian and Haynesville.

Her range of experience allows her to turn technical insight into clear, actionable decisions.
